Personalizing the program discovery experience

A few months after the launch of the new NCX Landowner Platform, metrics and interviews highlighted the need for users to more quickly discover the right programs for them and reduce the effort required. With the goal to increase conversion and reduce frustration, I led the design of curating the discovery experience, beginning with a way for users to more quickly find out their eligibility for a wider number of programs.

The current experience was causing some friction: users had to click into each individual program and answer questions to see if they were eligible. There wasn't an easy way for them to know they needed to answer questions first to see eligibility across multiple programs.

To make it easier for users to find out eligibility for a wider amount of programs at once, I moved the questions out of the program details pages and onto the main discovery page, turning them into a more delightful and interactive quiz-type experience.

Quizzes for program categories appeared above programs and below categories, changing questions for each category. Landowners answered a short quiz — less than 5 questions to reduce effort — about their land, and at the end they discovered what programs in that category they were eligible for and how much they may be able to earn from those programs.
