Designing interactive maps for land acreage eligibility

NCX, a marketplace that helps landowners find climate programs for their land, needed to keep improving the transparency for users when making a decision about their interest in participating in a program. From metrics, it was identified that users were struggling with not having all the data they need to evaluate programs because they didn’t know which specific acres were eligible for programs. This caused friction for the internal team, for program developers, and landowners — we needed to help users quickly determine if they want that acreage enrolled in that program.

I partnered with data scientists to create a map that landowners can interact with to see what eligible acres they have per program. The map is dynamic to each program and is based on the answers that landowners submit about their land from eligibility quizzes, and displays both eligible and ineligible acres.
